Voz Propia is a non profit organization and accepts contributions and in-kind donations to support its projects.
In doing this we are responsible to our funders by creating projects that not only help participants, but are also easy to repeat and use in other art programs for children.
Our projects have consistently been sustainable in that our students continue the work with the next generation of children throughout Guanacaste.
Below are plans for the VOZ PROPIA ARTS AND ECOLOGY CENTER at Longo Mai. Edible gardens will be developed on land adjacent to the main building. This center will be a learning center where both educators and children can come to learn about the arts, gardening and issues of sustainability.
The architectural plan is in the form of horseshoe with a central courtyard serving as amphitheater for special events.
Access to the art center is towards the front of the public street.
One side of the building are classrooms for different artistic disciplines:
Music studio, art studio, music room with instruments.
The other side of the building are two halls for dance, yoga, meditation, body work and exhibitions.
These can be opened for indoor performances.
The halls and classrooms have a corridor which has access to the central courtyard.
At the front of the building is located reception, administrative office and Internet facilities.
These are connected to one another by the terrace.
The building is raised three feet off the ground by stone piers.
