Voz Propia is a non-profit organization and accepts contributions and in-kind donations to support its projects. In doing this we are responsible to our funders. With our projects that serve economically challenged children, helping them to develop a sense of mastery in the arts, we strive to create programs which are replicable. We deliver educational and creative arts programs that focus on sustainability of our cultural heiritage, our reasources, and our creativity. When possible we produce educational materials to accompany these programs.



CENTER ART & ECOLOGY LEARNING
AT THE LONGO MAI COOPERATIVE.
An Art Center at Longo Mai where children & teachers from all over Costa Rica, Latin America, Europe and North America can come to create their theatrical productions, taking them back to their communities, with continued support from Voz Propia: educational materials, continued consultation with consultations from Voz Propia staff & former student. Ideas such as an “edible Garden are being considered for the Center.
Volunteers and school participants from Costa Rica, Europe and North America are welcome to participate in these programs at Longo Mai.

Other funding sources for additional building costs and school materials are being pursued in Europe now & next summer with a tour of the Children’s Circus (inspired by Cirque du Soleil) at Longo Mai with children from Longo Mai and socially challenge children from the center they have opened in San Ysidro.
HOMAGE TO MOTHER
A theatrical production about the philosophical thought, spirituality and arts of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican peoples that invites the audience to protect our rainforests, to share the culture, wisdom, art and values of both the pre-Columbian peoples and rural agro-cultures today.
There will be a journey with concerts in 8 sacred places in Costa Rica with music and stories written by Guadalupe Urbina. Scenery will be banners inspired by these ancient cultures and painted by Guadalupe.
An art exhibit with photographs of these cultures and paintings accompanied by written texts by Guadelupe Urbina with stories about the origins of art and culture of these people and places will be made into a book for children.
DREAMS AND TRAVELS TO THE SOUTH
A Project in Longo-Mai, the cooperative outside of San Ysidro, that has been a refuge for victims of war since 1979. The musical, written by Guadalupe Urbina, will chronicle the immigration and transmigration of people who currently live in this community of 400 people, the foundation of values and positive aspects that the exchange of cultures has created as a base for this community. People of the cooperative, and guests from other projects and other communities will participate in this project.
The final product is a musical A multimedia CD, an art show and a description of the project will also be produced so it can be replicated by other groups.
